Why this spreadsheet, specifically, is organised by shade

Why this site: most MambaBuy directories, including others covering the same catalogue, sort strictly by what an item is: shoes, bags, outerwear, each in its own silo. This one adds a second index built around what the item actually photographs as.

The problem a department list does not solve

A buyer trying to put together a cohesive, muted outfit has to open three or four category pages and eyeball the colour of each listing photo separately, trusting that a jacket shot under one seller's lighting and a pair of trousers shot under another's will actually sit together once they both arrive. Nothing about a category-only list helps with that, because category and colour are unrelated axes.

The four shade rails on this site answer a narrower question on purpose: within a colour family, which listings are worth a closer look, and what specifically goes wrong when that family gets photographed under warehouse conditions. Each rail page carries its own colour-matching notes rather than a single generic warning repeated four times, because black, earth tones, navy and saturated colour each fail in a different way.

What this site is not trying to be

It is not a full inventory mirror of MambaBuy's catalogue; the category list covers that more directly, and the live catalogue itself will always carry more than either index on this site. It is also not a styling or outfit-planning tool; the rails stop at colour family and do not attempt to match specific pieces into outfits. What it tries to do narrowly is reduce the number of colour-mismatch surprises in a MambaBuy order by naming the trap before it happens, rather than after a parcel has already crossed a border.

How the six items on each rail get picked

Each rail's six listings are chosen by opening the photo directly, not by trusting a category tag or a listing title, since both have been seen misapplied on the underlying catalogue. A listing earns a place on a rail when its photograph clearly and primarily shows the colour family in question, when the image is not stretched or upscaled past its native resolution, and when it has not already appeared, under the same crop, on one of this site's own other pages. Six is a deliberately small number: enough to show the colour family is genuinely represented across more than one category, not so many that the rail turns into another undifferentiated department list.
